Designed specifically for today’s flat-panel TVs, the RAMPs makes it possible to power quality speakers regardless of the TV’s output connectivity. Featuring analog and digital audio inputs, the RAMP decodes (Dolby Digital, DTS and PCM) as well as preamplifying and amplifying the TV’s audio signal. The RAMP is the ideal component for sound-bars and architectural stereo speakers making it possible for the TV to sound as good as it looks.

“The RAMP comes in two versions. The RAMP-PM providing standard power starts at $799 and the RAMP-HP delivering high-power is $1599. Finally, you can have sound from your flat-panel TV that is on par with its phenomenal HDTV image.” states Richard Stoerger, ADA’s vice president and chief operating officer. “It proves that great things do come in small packages.” With its chassis measuring about 9 inches square and under 2 inches in height, the RAMPs can fit behind a TV or anywhere else in the room.

The RAMP decodes Dolby Digital, DTS and PCM digital audio signals. “The decoding feature is key because many of today’s TVs no longer feature analog outputs but rather only digital outputs providing encoded audio. The RAMP’s ability to decode and downmix complex multi-channel signals to stereo is a critical design feature because one can encounter multiple types of bitstreams even when just flipping through TV channels.” notes Albert Langella, ADA’s president and chief design engineer. “Regardless of how you connect the RAMP, it does everything automatically including powering up, decoding and even finding the active input.”

The RAMP has four inputs including a digital TOS-Link, digital coax, analog stereo, and a speaker bypass input that permits the speakers to play audio from a music system when the TV is off. The multiple inputs can also connect to Blu-ray players, set-top boxes and iPod docks making the RAMP ideal for the hospitality market. Their “ADA” caliber power amplifiers delivers an impressive 30 Watts per channel for the RAMP-PM and 100 Watts per channel on the RAMP-HP. Both versions also feature a line-level audio output that can be set to drive an amplifier or powered subwoofer. The RAMP is available with front panel control buttons and has an IR learner that captures any IR command from whatever IR remote you have to map to its volume, mute and input advance functions. It also has an RS-232 port for setup and control (integration) and even low-voltage input and output triggers. While fully automatic right out of the box, it is also completely configurable for those integrating it into a control system.
