CABLEREADY SNARES EXCLUSIVE INTERNATIONAL RIGHTS TO FIRST FOUR SEASONS OF 'ODDITIES' THROUGH MIPCOM AGREEMENT WITH LEFFTFIELD PICTURES
Company Also Secures International Rights to
Companion Series 'Oddities San Francisco'
CANNES, FRANCE, OCTOBER 9, 2012 — (Virtual Press Office) -- CABLEready (Stand #R31.17) acquired international rights to Oddities and the companion series Oddities San Francisco through a deal reached in the Palais at MIPCOM with Leftfield Pictures, which was brokered by Peleton Entertainment. The company will now begin offering both series for sale during the MIPCOM market in Cannes. The announcement was made today by Gary Lico, President and CEO of CABLEready, the international television program distribution and development company.
Exclaimed Mr. Lico, "Shows produced by Leftfield Pictures have garnered significant primetime ratings for major broadcasters around the world. We look to catch lightning in a bottle with Oddities and Oddities San Francisco during MIPCOM with savvy programmers." Both series are audience favorites in the U.S. on Science Channel (part of the Discovery Communications family of networks).
Oddities (73x30) dives into the world of strange and extraordinary science artifacts – everything from pickled hearts to a desk lamp made of a baboon's paw – through the eyes of the proprietors of Manhattan's Obscura Antiques & Oddities. The franchise's second series Oddities San Francisco (16x30) follows the staff and transactions of the famed store, Loved to Death, located in the heart of San Francisco. Customers flock from all around the world to experience this one-of-a-kind establishment, overflowing with obscure curiosities.
