The Countdown Begins: Larger than Life Arena Spectacular to Debut at London's Wembley Arena on 2nd November

LONDON, UK – 16 OCTOBER, 2012 – (Virtual Press Office) -- While participating at Brand Licensing Europe, Twentieth Century Fox Consumer Products proudly unveils new details of the imminent world premiere of Ice Age Live! A Mammoth Adventure.

In partnership with Stage Entertainment Touring Productions, the ground-breaking arena show will celebrate its global premiere at Wembley Arena on 2 November 2012, before the world's favourite herd embarks on a five year adventure tour to arenas around the world.  Tickets are now on sale for this stunning new production, which will be preceded by preview shows at the Motorpoint Arena in Cardiff on 19 – 21 October and Nottingham's Capital FM Arena on 25 – 28 October.

Combining exceptional ice skating, aerial arts, puppetry and film, Ice Age Live! A Mammoth Adventure will take audiences on a jaw-dropping adventure with a new storyline inspired by the first three films of the top-grossing international animated film franchise of all time.  The unforgettable ice skating extravaganza will include countless action-packed thrills, eye-popping effects, mischievous humour and toe-tapping songs as the loveable characters Scrat, Manny, Diego, Sid, Ellie, Peaches, Buck, Eddie and Crash embark on a journey of discovery with several new characters created for the live show.

Sid and his friends will feature incredibly realistic facial expressions and synchronised lips that will speak and sing to the audience.  The large scale production has been tailored to its arena venues; Manny the Mammoth will stand at a height of 3.5m, a length of 5.4m from tail to tusks, and a width of 1.2m, (2.4m including tusks), while new character Shadow – the evil bird – has a wing span of 5m. The set will also be a spectacular recreation of the Ice Age world with awe-inspiring props, video, lights and special effects to create rocks, caves and icebergs.

Co-directors Guy Caron (Cirque du Soleil) and Michael Curry (Lion King, Cirque du Soleil) lead a world-class creative team.  The duo works their magic and artistic genius into gravity-defying acrobatics and breath-taking costumes.  The storyline is enhanced by the the music and lyrics of Ella Louise Allaire & Martin Lord Ferguson, and the clever set design of British born David Shields.

With over $5 billion in box office, home entertainment and consumer products sales, Ice Age is the world's most successful animated franchise.  This announcement of Ice Age Live! A Mammoth Adventure comes at a booming time for the franchise with the DVD release of the fourth installment of the film series, Ice Age: Continental Drift on 10 December. The film features a returning cast voiced by Ray Romano, John Leguizamo, Denis Leary, Seann William Scott, Josh Peck, and Queen Latifah, along with new characters voiced by Jennifer Lopez, Nicki Minaj, Drake, Peter Dinklage, Wanda Sykes, Keke Palmer, Nick Frost, and Aziz Ansari, among others.
